Waxing FAQ

How long does the hair need to be?

Your hair has to be at least ¼-inch long, or around the size of a grain rice. This helps ensure the hair is completely removed from the root. If its your first time waxing, usually 2 weeks after your last shave. If the hair is longer no need to trim, come as is.

How can I prepare for my wax?

Gently exfoliate the area or areas the day prior to your appointment,  this will help remove any dead skin, and make the hair come out of the follicle easier.

Try to avoid caffeine or alcohol 24hrs prior to your appointment.

Wear loose fitting comfortable clothing.

Take a warm shower or bath right before your appointment to open your pores.

Tynonel or ibuprofen 30 minutes before your appointment can be helpful.

Waxing is not as painful as it seems! So try not to stress! Just get through the first time and you’d wish you started sooner!

Can I wax on my period?

Yes, you can. Just wear a tampon or menstrual cup. You might feel slightly more sensitive but it’s totally doable and lots of women do it!

Can I wax if I take medications?

You cannot be waxed if you are taking Accutane, Differin, or Retin A. Also any medications that list “sun sensitivity” on the list of symptoms. You should also avoid waxing while using glycolic acid, or any facial peels. Medications that cause your skin to become sensitive, could result in skin lifting during waxing. If you are on medications such as Accutane please consult with your doctor, as to when it is safe to resume your waxing.

Can I get waxed during pregnancy?

Yes, you can, and lots of women do! You might experience slightly more sensitivity during pregnancy. If you are worried or have doubts consult your doctor prior to booking.

What kind of wax do you use?

I have many different types of wax, all are cream based. Each one is especially formulated for certain skin and hair types. All are hypoallergenic.

What are the benefits of waxing?

Wax once a month or shave every 2 days says it all! But also, no more razor bumps, no more irritation, no more itchy stubble.  You can look forward to slower growth,  less hair overtime, and so much more!

How can I prevent ingrown hairs?

So the trick is to get into a good routine with exfoliation and moisturizing. I recommend exfoliating 3-4 times a week and applying a moisturizer or oil right after your shower or bath. I carry amazing products to help you prevent and treat ingrown hairs.  I always say, now that you don’t have to shave anymore spend those extra few minutes and take care of your skin!
